Patrick Cale

Being a mom is really hard! Cale is a really good baby but I am still exausted all the time. It was to be expected though so I am not surprised. We are going to a lacation check today to see if Cale is getting enough to eat and to see if I am feeding him the right way. They are going to weigh him too...I am excited to see if he has gained any weight. It could just be me but his thighs are feeling a little more squishy. Patrick goes back to work tomorrow. I am sad, he has been such an awesome help! I wish he could be off as long as I am. Anyway, here are some more pictures that I took today...

Cale's induction into the world!

Patrick Cale Pierce was born on 9-24-08 at 4:54pm. He weighed 8lbs. 1oz. and measured 20in. long. They started me on the pitocin at about 7:30am that morning and I was in labor by 8:00. The pain got very intense and made me throw up so I gave in and got an epidural at 2:00. At that time I was only dilated to 3 cm. I began pushing at about 3:30pm and he was out at 4:54! He is totally awesome and we are very glad he is finally home. Here are a few pictures...

Scared little girl

Yesterday was my doctors appointment and she said I was dialated to a 2 this time! She also asked if I would like to be induced on Wed. 9-24. She said she is on call that day and it is only two days before my actual due date. I thought about it long and hard and the pros seemed to outweigh the cons so I agreed. So unless he comes earlier, Cale is due to be born on 9-24-08! HOW EXCITING!! I am getting really scared about labor now. I am going to attempt a natural birth and knowing that it is going to happen in 5 days is really scary! I can't wait to hold that little guy in my arms and see him for the first time.

It's Time!!! Oh, maybe not....

Last night I started timing my contractions because they seemed pretty regular but they didn't hurt. They ended up being less than 5 minutes apart for over an hour!! My doctors keep telling me that if they are less than 5 minutes apart for at least an hour to go to the hospital. So, we packed up the car and we drove to the hospital. They put me on the monitors for an hour and checked my cervix twice. Apparently the contractions weren't doing anything so they sent us home. I am still at 1 cm.....Dang it!

My dog daughter

On Saturday morning, I was getting out of the shower and Rizzo came into the bathroom. It looked like she had been beaten! Her face was all swollen and one eye couldn't open all the way. I called my vet and they said she probably got bit by something and was having some allergic reaction. They said give her 2 benedryl and wait it out. So I did, then went to work. Patrick said the swelling went down that day. But, when I got home, she had hives covering her entire body! She was licking herself like crazy and scratching. I called the emergency vet, they said the benedryl probably wore off so I gave her some more. Nothing happenend so I took her to the vet and they gave her a cortisone shot. When we were waiting to check out, she collapsed on the floor and wouldn't get up. They took her into the back room and determined that the benedryl had kicked in and she was just drowsy. $108 bucks later, she is fine and I had something to write about. Look at that face!

Quick update...

For a quick update, I went to the doctor today and she said I was 80% effaced (which means how much your cervix has thinned out) and 1 cm dialated (meaning how much my cervix is open on a scale from 1-10). I am getting closer to the big day!!! I could still stay this way for awhile, weeks even! So don't get too excited yet! I will put up another update next week after my doctor appointment...

Getting close!

I wish this baby would hurry up and get here!!! I only have 3 weeks left and I know it will be the longest 3 weeks of my life. Well, I will say that now but I think after he comes it will be the longest 6 weeks ever. We'll see. I got my pictures back I only posted a few but they are my favorites. I think I am starting to drop! That is some good news! I am getting closer! For those who don't know what "dropping" is, it is when the baby drops lower into the mothers pelvis to get ready for birth. I feel so much heavier than I used to. Other than that, no new news to report....
