Baby bunny

In the midst of all the stressfulness I mentioned in my last blog, I have come down with a mild cold. What the crap! We did all our shopping for our dinner last night because the weather took a turn for the worse today. Freezing rain and ice. Lovely.

A lady I work with gave me a little bunny suit for Cale last week. Her grandson grew out of it before it was cold enough for him to wear it. We put it on Cale and I instantly started crying because I was laughing so hard! It even has ears and a little tail. I had to take pictures of course! He couldn't move in that thing! Then, after the laughing subsided, Patrick put on a sweater that apparently had been on the hanger too long. Just look at his shoulders! It was a pretty funny night last night. Nothing else to talk about really....

So, I am pretty sure Patrick fed Cale crack while I was at work today. Just kidding! Seriously though, this child is wide awake! He is just lying in his crib talking to himself and it is almost an hour past his bedtime! I am tired. Why can't he be tired too?
I am not sure if I told anyone this, but we did end up giving Rizzo away. I don't miss her at all. I know that sounds mean but she made my life so stressful! I am more happy for her than anything. Shiner is adjusting well. He has his days that he whines alot. He does get really jealous when I play with Cale. He brings his toys over and wants me to play with him instead. It's kind of cute. Next week is going to be busy. I am hosting a Christmas Eve dinner for my family on Christmas Eve and then I need to make something for a work Christmas potluck and then a bunch of family is coming over on Saturday for a Christmas thing. Sooooo busy!!!

It could be alot worse..

Well, we went to the eye doctor today. In a nutshell, Cale has Patrick's eyes...just not as bad. He was diagnosed with ocular albinism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocular_albinism , he has nystagmus, and he is nearsighted. His eyesight cannot be corrected completly but he still might be able to drive and live a totally normal life. Only time can tell. The doctor did say that in a few months Cale will have glasses. Patrick is really upset by this news. He feels at fault and he is scared that it will be really hard when Cale gets older...kids picking on him and stuff. I tried to reassure him that technology is different and he might have thinner glasses than Patrick did. We are also going to go to a genetisist to see what our chances are of having more children with albinism. We may not have as many children as we planned but I can guarntee that Cale will have at least one sibling.

Status: healthy

Cale had his 2 month checkup today. Here are some of the stats:

His head is 15 3/4 inches around
He is 24 3/4 inches long which is in the 90th percentile of kids his age
He weighed 13 lbs 10 ounces which is also in the 90th percentile

His mother cried with him when he got his shots

He might have nystagmus
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physiologic_nystagmus) we are going to an eye doctor tomorrow, I will post when we get back

I haven't mentioned this to many people yet but we have made the decision to get rid of Rizzo. She is just too much to handle now that the baby is here. She requires so much attention that I am not able to give her anymore. She now does anything for attention...good or bad. A lady Patrick works with already has a Boxer and says she really wants another one. We are going to set up a play date at some point to make sure they get along. I feel sad because I do want to keep her but I really think she would be more happy somewhere else. Shiner is going to be very upset and lonely for awhile but I think that with Rizzo out of the picture, I will be less stressed and more apt to play. Plus, I think Cale will be Shiner's best friend before to long....

The Teutul's

So....not much going on here. I thought I'd post anyway because I haven't posted in awhile. Cale has a doctor appointment on Monday. He is getting his shots! I feel so bad for him. Oh, interesting story, the other day at work, the Teutuls from American Chopper came through my gate. They are pretty nice people. I checked one of their ID's. I don't know what else to write and I have to get ready for work.

Go to sleep already!

So, I went to the doctor today with Cale to get a weight check. He now weighs 12.12lbs!!! Patrick and I had made a bet before I went..whoever could guess his weight closest without going over wins a 20 minute back tickling. I guessed 12.14 and Patrick guessed 12.9, so he won. The picture of Patrick and Cale that I posted is really funny because that is what Patrick looks like every night when I come home from work. It makes me laugh. I put a video on my youtube(www.youtube.com/carson1985) for my sister because I really wanted her to hear Cale snore and I would call her so she could hear him over the phone but everytime I did that, he would wake up. I was really glad when I got it on film. Some people have been asking what Cale needs for Christmas. Not much really. I would like some books that I can read to him. Or maybe a gift card to babies r us so we can get him a new carseat when the time comes. I think Patrick and I are going to get him a walker. He really has no use for one now but we will get one sooner or later so why not for christmas. Oh yeah, diapers are always welcome...size 2 or higher. Anyway, happy thanksgiving to everybody! I can't wait to stuff my face!!!!

Work...BLAH!

So, I am back at work now:( It makes me really sad. I don't get to see Cale very much because he sleeps pretty much all morning. Also, I'm not pumping enough milk while I am at work so we have to put Cale on supplment formula so we don't run out of milk. Plus, when I do pump at work it takes up my entire 2 breaks and more than half my lunch! So I am not able to eat when I would like to. I hate work! I wish we had enough money for me to stay home, but we dont. Next week we are going to Grandma Betty's for thanksgiving, I can't wait! And Cale has his next Doctor's appointment on the 8th. Other than that, everything is great here. I hope everyone has a good thanksgiving!

Bambi

Patrick told me a very funny story yesterday...A lady he works with was out working in her garden. She looked up and saw a deer eating some of her vegetation. She had a hammer next to her so she threw it at the deer to scare it away. The hammer hit the deer in the head and killed it instantly! How funny is that?!?!

We went to Oklahoma last week to visit some family. It was really fun, I wish we could've stayed longer but Patrick had to work. I go back to work next Monday! I am so sad!

I think Cale is starting to get into the routine of sleeping through the night. I put him to bed at 10:30 last night and he didn't wake up until 6:45! Of course I didn't sleep that long. A storm woke me up at 3am then Patrick getting ready for work at 4am then I woke up at about 615 wondering if I should go check on the little one. He slept really good when we were in Oklahoma too. I am also trying to put him down when he is awake. I read on the internet that you should do that so your child learns to go to sleep on their own. He doesn't seem to mind most the time. I still let him sleep in my lap sometimes...when will he ever get to do that again.....

Patrick's Birthday Bash

On Nov. 1st we celebrated Patricks 30th birthday. We went out to eat then got on the party bus and went to a haunted house then to America's pub, then we just drove around until 2:30am. There were quite a few drunk people on that bus. It was pretty fun but I couldn't help thinking about how much sleep I could be getting since MeMa Dayle was watching Cale. Patrick didn't blame me, he thought it was funny. Overall we had a blast. It was our first night out without the baby and I never called Dayle once to check on him! I wanted to so bad though. Well, here are some pictures...

This one's for you Hasen!

This is a video of Patrick burping Cale. I tried to get a good burp on camera but I was too late. It is a cute video none the less and Allison asked me to post a video. So this one's for you Hasen!

Saturday, October 25, 2008

I haven't had much time to post anything in awhile...that kid takes up so much of my time! That picture shows why I am getting to post right now. Aren't my boys cute!? Anyway, everything here is going well. We are getting new siding put on our house right now, I am going to post before and after pictures when they are done. It is going to look so much better! Cale is getting big, I bet he probably weighs about 10lbs by now. The dogs are driving me crazy, they found another way to get out of the backyard so they have been stuck in the house for about a week now. Patrick and I took them for a walk today...they seemed to enjoy themselves. We went to grandma Betty's last night. It was pretty fun, I got to meet some of Patrick's family that I have never met before. Well, my child is hungry and crying now...TTFN!

This is a picture of Grandma Betty and her 5 sons

Sleep deprived

Cale had his 2 week check up today. He gained 5 ounces in 2 days!!! He now weighs 8lbs. 12oz.! And he has grown an inch! It is so crazy! He is starting to get little fat rolls on his wrists and thighs. I think he is becoming nocturnal...he seems to only sleep during the day. Next weeks we are going to introduce the bottle! I am really excited because Patrick will be able to feed him and I can get a little more sleep hopefully....

Eating like a champ!

So, we had another lacation visit today. Cale now weighs 8lbs. 7 oz.! In one week he gained half a pound!! He is taking 3oz. for a feeding which is really awesome! He is doing soooo good! Not much else to report, life is pretty uneventful around here. I just take care of Cale and try to sleep when I can and Patrick is working and helping out around the house when he can. Life is great and I love our new family! Patrick wanted me to say that he thinks I am the best mom ever...take that Dayle! Just kidding!

Patrick Cale

Being a mom is really hard! Cale is a really good baby but I am still exausted all the time. It was to be expected though so I am not surprised. We are going to a lacation check today to see if Cale is getting enough to eat and to see if I am feeding him the right way. They are going to weigh him too...I am excited to see if he has gained any weight. It could just be me but his thighs are feeling a little more squishy. Patrick goes back to work tomorrow. I am sad, he has been such an awesome help! I wish he could be off as long as I am. Anyway, here are some more pictures that I took today...

Cale's induction into the world!

Patrick Cale Pierce was born on 9-24-08 at 4:54pm. He weighed 8lbs. 1oz. and measured 20in. long. They started me on the pitocin at about 7:30am that morning and I was in labor by 8:00. The pain got very intense and made me throw up so I gave in and got an epidural at 2:00. At that time I was only dilated to 3 cm. I began pushing at about 3:30pm and he was out at 4:54! He is totally awesome and we are very glad he is finally home. Here are a few pictures...

Scared little girl

Yesterday was my doctors appointment and she said I was dialated to a 2 this time! She also asked if I would like to be induced on Wed. 9-24. She said she is on call that day and it is only two days before my actual due date. I thought about it long and hard and the pros seemed to outweigh the cons so I agreed. So unless he comes earlier, Cale is due to be born on 9-24-08! HOW EXCITING!! I am getting really scared about labor now. I am going to attempt a natural birth and knowing that it is going to happen in 5 days is really scary! I can't wait to hold that little guy in my arms and see him for the first time.

It's Time!!! Oh, maybe not....

Last night I started timing my contractions because they seemed pretty regular but they didn't hurt. They ended up being less than 5 minutes apart for over an hour!! My doctors keep telling me that if they are less than 5 minutes apart for at least an hour to go to the hospital. So, we packed up the car and we drove to the hospital. They put me on the monitors for an hour and checked my cervix twice. Apparently the contractions weren't doing anything so they sent us home. I am still at 1 cm.....Dang it!

My dog daughter

On Saturday morning, I was getting out of the shower and Rizzo came into the bathroom. It looked like she had been beaten! Her face was all swollen and one eye couldn't open all the way. I called my vet and they said she probably got bit by something and was having some allergic reaction. They said give her 2 benedryl and wait it out. So I did, then went to work. Patrick said the swelling went down that day. But, when I got home, she had hives covering her entire body! She was licking herself like crazy and scratching. I called the emergency vet, they said the benedryl probably wore off so I gave her some more. Nothing happenend so I took her to the vet and they gave her a cortisone shot. When we were waiting to check out, she collapsed on the floor and wouldn't get up. They took her into the back room and determined that the benedryl had kicked in and she was just drowsy. $108 bucks later, she is fine and I had something to write about. Look at that face!

Quick update...

For a quick update, I went to the doctor today and she said I was 80% effaced (which means how much your cervix has thinned out) and 1 cm dialated (meaning how much my cervix is open on a scale from 1-10). I am getting closer to the big day!!! I could still stay this way for awhile, weeks even! So don't get too excited yet! I will put up another update next week after my doctor appointment...

Getting close!

I wish this baby would hurry up and get here!!! I only have 3 weeks left and I know it will be the longest 3 weeks of my life. Well, I will say that now but I think after he comes it will be the longest 6 weeks ever. We'll see. I got my pictures back I only posted a few but they are my favorites. I think I am starting to drop! That is some good news! I am getting closer! For those who don't know what "dropping" is, it is when the baby drops lower into the mothers pelvis to get ready for birth. I feel so much heavier than I used to. Other than that, no new news to report....
