A few things...

Wow...I haven't done a blog in forever! I guess I have alot to say....where to start?
Cale is doing good. He was sick about 2 weeks ago. One doctor thought it was an ear infection but we took him to another doctor a few days later and she said it wasn't an ear infection. He was just sick. He had a fever, slept alot, and was really clingy and didn't want to play. He just laid around all day. But, he is better now. He still has a cough at night but it isn't bad at all. He is eating like a pig and he loves his warm milk before bed. He likes having his teeth brushed. I bought him a big boy toothbrush a few days ago. We were using this rubber thing you slip over your finger. Another big milestone! We took his binky away! It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It was hard, don't get me wrong. But I thought it would last more than 3 days. After 3 days, he just kinda gave up on the crying when we laid him down to sleep. We were going to take it away sooner but he got sick and we almost needed it. I like to consider that his last hoorah. Halloween was good. Cale went trick or treating at family and friend's houses. He was Yoda from Star Wars. He got me alot of candy....hahaha.
Patrick is okay. More than a month ago, he went to Georgia to visit his sister. While he was there, he was messing around and punched a punching bag they had. He called me that night and said he thought he had broken his wrist. The pain went down by the time he got home so we didn't worry about it for a couple weeks. He said the pain was still there so we went to the doctor who put him on light duty at work and told him to wear a splint. When that didn't work, he got an MRI and took the films to a hand and wrist surgeon. He said Patrick had torn some cartilage in his wrist. So, now, Patrick has to have surgery to fix it. We don't know when it will be but I think he wants to schedule it a week from monday. He will be off for awhile...during all the holidays...how lucky.
I am pretty good too! I have a sinus infection and a cough, but I think I am getting better. A few days ago I could barely talk. I think it is going around my work too. That is probably where I got it. Cale and I are going to visit Dillon next week. I am pretty excited! We get a special visit because I am coming from out of state, which means we get to take pictures! I will post them when we get back. He could really use support from family espically during the holidays coming up. Here is his address for anyone who wants to write him.

I think that is about it! Here are a few pictures!

Forever and a day

It has been forever since I posted! Cale is officially walking now...it is so weird! His birthday party went really good. He got alot of cool stuff. I still haven't sent out the ThankYou notes...I am so bad! I have them addressed and everything! I just don't have stamps. We took a trip to Chicago last week. It was pretty cool, Cale really seemed to enjoy all the hustle and bustle. I enjoyed riding the train around. We spent just one night there and went to the Shedd Aquarium the next day. It was so cool! They had dolphins and beluga whales. I love seeing the large marine animals. Someday, we will go to SeaWorld! After the Shedd, we went downtown and had lunch at Giordinos Pizzeria. We ended up driving home because we couldn't make any of the standby lists for flights home, they were all oversold (Patrick works for the airline so we fly for free but only on standby). It was a fun trip overall. We are already dissussing where we want to go next. It will probably have to wait until after the holidays though.
This Thursday, we are staying the night at a local casino here in town. Patrick got a free night there for his birthday. We invited another couple to come with us, it should be a really fun time. My best friend is coming over to watch Cale for the night. She is the awesomest!
Alright...time for bed! Here are some of Cale's 1st year pictures we had taken....Enjoy!

Same ol' stuff

So, Cale turns 1 in three days....

I can't believe how fast time has gone by. I decided to take a trip down memory lane to see what I was doing a year ago...according to my blog, I was dialated to a 2 and awaiting Cale's induction. With all the memories and the cute song playing, my eyes began to water. I love all the memories that we have made as a family but I hate the thought of never being able to relive it. For instance, I will never get to see Cale crawl for the first time, and he will never be small enough to fit in his first outfit again. It almost hurts to think of all the things I will miss but it is bittersweet. I will always look forward to the new exciting things Cale will do and see. I want to be there for it all and carry it with me always!

As for an update, Cale is walking about 70% of the time. If he isn't walking unassisted, he is holding on to the furniture and walking. His birthday party is this Sunday at a park here in town. I am pretty excited but not looking forward to making the food and cake. All his toys, he has either outgrown or he got tired of them, so I am really excited for some new toys!
Patrick and I are working as usual. And Shiner is doing well also. Nothing else to report really...same old, same old....

The Scoop

So, here's the latest scoop...
Sunday- Patrick and I were at work and Cale was with his MeMa. She called me and said he started coughing and choking and couldn't breathe for a short moment. She had checked his mouth and nothing was in it. I decided to stay at work. She called me again about an hour later saying he had done it again. I picked up Patrick and we sped home. By the time we had gotten there, he had done it a third time. We talked to our neighbor who is a doctor and she said we should take him to the ER. So, we packed up and went to the ER. After 5 hours there, they did a chest X-Ray and said he was fine. They called it a Random Life Threatening Event and told me to follow up with his doctor the next day.

Monday- I made an appointment for Cale to see his doctor at 10:45. She looked him over and said that babies have a sensitive gag reflex and coughing can send them into a fit of choking. It was probably some flem that started the coughing in the first place.

Tuesday- Patrick and I were about to take Cale to St. Joe to get his pictures taken. We stopped at Sam's Club first and leaving the parking lot, Cale started having a coughing fit so I stopped the car. He then puked all over the place. Grown up puke with heaving and everything! We weren't sure what to do since he acted totally normal after he was done, so we called his doctor and left a message for the nurse. We began our trip to St. Joe and Cale fell asleep in the car. The nurse called us about half way there and said fluids and rest. We were about a mile from the picture place and Cale puked again. We almost cancelled but ended up getting the pictures anyway. He was fine during the rest of the evening.

Wednesday- Cale slept the entire night then got up and had breakfast. We played a little then he went back to bed and took a 4 hour nap. Shortly after he woke up, I had to pick up Patrick from work and Cale almost fell asleep on the way there (15 minutes). Needless to say, he slept ALOT yesterday.

So Patrick is leaving tomorrow for South Bend. He is going to a Notre Dame football game there with his dad. I thought he might like to spend time with me this morning...but no, he is sleeping, even after I asked him to stay up. I am pretty upset right now.
I posted some videos on youtube again. I think 6. I have been slacking but they are really awesome videos. www.youtube.com/carson1985
I can't belive Cale's birthday is in a couplae weeks! Sept. 24th for those of you who can't remember and I am sure you would've asked me. We are having his party at a nearby park on the 27th. I need to get out invites....
Well, Cale wants me to play. I better go!

Frog sniffer

So Cale has been making really good progress with his standing. He stands alone, unassisted for long periods at a time and lots throughout the day! He also has started to walk alot behind his little walker. He looks so cute doing it. I have noticed a couple weird things that he likes to do. He enjoys taking a book or a toy and pushing it around the house. I plan to upload a video so you can better understand. He also enjoys putting his shoes and other objects into Shiner's food bowl. I wonder if he thinks he is feeding him....
As for Patrick and I, we are working as usual. Cale and I are going to go see my sister in California on Monday. I am really excited! She has never met Cale before. I am pretty nervous about flying alone with Cale again. Let me quote myself from a post I wrote in May...."I will never fly alone with Cale EVER again!"
HAHAHA
I think...scratch that....I hope he will do better this time.
Cale has this thing with pulling his glasses as hard as he can and breaking the straps on them. He has broken 3 straps, one of which, he broke twice. I ordered some more straps like 3 weeks ago and they haven't come yet! I am getting really mad! I am afraid that Cale will get used to life without glasses and hate them when he can finally wear them again.
Okay, I need to work out then take a shower and go to bed. I have to take Patrick to work at 4am then wake up early to take my car for an oil change before work.....tomorrow will be a long day.......

Howdy

I am not doing so good at this blogging thing anymore. Ever since Cale has become mobile, I only have time for extra curricular activities at night. And now, my nights are full. I have been working out for about a week and a half now. I think I am finally starting to see results. A few weeks ago, we went to the Platte County Fair and watched demolition derby and rode a few rides. I am posting pictures. Today, I went to the zoo with some friends of mine and their kids...altogether there were 4 adults and 5 children. It really wasn't bad at all. They were having a special for the day, $2 admission, hotdogs and train rides. We ended up paying $4 and getting a pass for unlimited rides on the train, tram and carousel. The kids were pretty well behaved until they started getting tired, which at that time, we were all ready to go home. Cale really enjoyed the sheep. I am posting pictures of that as well. I put some sheep food on the tray of his stroller and let the sheep go wild. He was cracking up! I got a video...I will post that on www.YouTube.com/carson1985. I might find time to post more videos too. I have been slacking on that as well. Tonight, Patrick's uncle came over to make us dinner. Jambaylaya. It isn't done yet but it smells really good! I made a blueberry poundcake. My Aunt gave me the reciepe for it...it is sooooo good! Thanks Dee! Well, that is all I have time for! Love you all!

Little crapper

So I don't have long to write but I wanted to tell you guys about this. Cale has had diarrhea for a few days which resulted in a pretty bad diaper rash. The doctor gave me a few tips on how to get rid of it. One of things she said was to air it out. I was letting Cale run around this morning with his diaper off and he totally took a dump on the floor! It was awesome!!

Tables and Derby

So, our dining room table has been falling apart for quite some time now. I saw an ad in the paper for a counter height table at Nebraska Furniture Mart for $200. We decided to go look at it. Patrick has been having some problems with his back side so he got on a motorized scooter they had there. I took some video that was pretty funny. As for the table, it was really rickity and cheap. We found another that was originally $1100 and we bought it for $479! It is super nice!

Last night, we went to the Platte County Fair to watch some demolition derby. We went with Cale, patrick's cousin, and my friend Jessica and her son Scotty. It was really fun! Cale was scared by the noise at first but became okay after we started clapping and cheering. Scotty is 2 and he LOVED it! He was waving at the cars and yelling. It was sooo cute. I have to go get ready for work....

Whatever...

Our opening ceremony...7000 bottle rockets...it was AWESOME!

It was really sunny....
Notice the teething biscuit lying on the ground behind him...he was sooo filthy I noticed that I haven't posted since July 3rd....I apologize.
The 4th was great, we went to Oklahoma for like a day and a half, but it was still wonderful. We ended up driving home at 11:30pm on the 4th so Cale would sleep the whole way...which he did...along with Patrick. I was very tired and I started seeing things but we still made it home safely.
Cale has 4 teeth now! Two on top and two on bottom. He is eating more and more solids every day. He really likes pancakes and teriakyi chicken. I am going to cut up a cantelope tomorrow for him...and us.
Yesterday, we took my very dear friend out to eat and Patrick got really excited while telling a story and knocked his drink on me. It was completely full. My pants were soaked but I was more worried about the diaper bag. Alot of the drink spilled into the bag where my cell phone was...it totally doesn't work now. Which I don't understand...it worked this morning. Oh well, we are getting new phones at the beginning of August. I can't wait.
This afternoon, I weeded the bush bed (it's really a flower bed, but no flowers, just bushes). It was seriously hot out! And, I was wearing flannel pants! I am retarted! I did'nt want to get eaten by bugs so I covered up. It took me a long time...probably 2-3 hours. It looks so much better though!
This Friday we are having a party at our house. My mom is picking up Cale on her way home from work that night and we are picking him up on Saturday. I am really excited but I know I will miss him alot! It makes me sad already!
We invited our friends Mike and Melissa and their baby Landon over tonight for dinner. I made sweet and sour chicken...it was sooooo good. Landon is just 7 weeks older than Cale so they get along pretty well.
I need to start planning for Cale's birthday. I was thinking of a BBQ at my house...maybe some games for the kids. If it is hot, I was going to bust out the kiddie pool. I figure I will make it more fun for the adults seeing as though Cale won't really remember. I need a theme...I am stressing out already!
Alright, that is enough for now. I need to let Shiner in and relax while watching my shows. I love you all!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Cale went to the doctor yesterday...he weighs 21 lbs. 12oz. and he is 29 in. long.

Oklahoma or bust

So, the memorial service for Patrick's aunt will be held on Monday evening. SO, we will be able to go to Oklahoma after all! We leave in the morning!

Sad day

Cale is content right now eating a piece of toast so I thought I would hurry and write a blog.
This is a very shocking story. Patricks aunt got admitted into the hospital on Tuesday. They did some tests and it turns out she had cancer and her liver was almost gone. We got a call the next day saying she had passed away. I just thought that was so crazy. No one, including her, knew that she had cancer then, she dies from it a day after she finds out. It is pretty sad, and to make matters worse, she had her first grandchild on the way.
Depending on when the funeral is, we may not be able to make it to Oklahoma. We should find out today. I think her husband wants to have it on Monday so no one has to miss out on their 4th weekend. He is a really sweet guy. He cooked the meat for our reception. Please keep Patrick's family in your hearts and hope they have the strength to get through this.
Alright, Cale is freaking out now....

Before I go to bed...

Quick update, yesterday, Cale climbed the stairs! Patrick was behind him the whole way of course and he crawled himself to the top. What a big boy!
Busy couple days ahead! Buying fireworks, packing, oil change, swimming, trim shiner's nails, give shiner a bath, clean the house, work...blah, rent a car, try to relax, doctors appointment....so much do to in so little time!

Trip

Cale is crawling now! He only really crawls on hard surfaces like tile. He does the army crawl on carpet. It is really cute. He has been doing this for about 2-3 weeks now. I know, I should've updated sooner! I am so busy with work and everything. We will be visiting Oklahoma for the 4th! We will get there on Friday the 3rd in the afternoon and we are leaving on Sunday the 5th very early in the morning. I would love to have a get together with my cousins and aunts and stuff on the 4th during the day. Hint Hint Grandma Barbara! Just kidding! My dad is off that day so I told him we will spend the day with him, then head back to Dee's for dinner. We don't have plans for Friday either....we are up for whatever!

Swings, swimming, and skin flaps

About a week ago, we took Cale to a birthday party. Our friend's daughter turned 1 and she had a party for her at a park. Cale really enjoys swinging. It was really nice that day except for the massive amounts of goose poo everywhere. I ended up getting a little burnt on my shoulders. Expected.
Cale went swimming today in our driveway. We bought him a pool a few weeks ago and it was pretty hot today. He didn't like it at first so we added some hot water and he enjoyed himself alot. I think I got some really great pictures.
I got the garage cleaned out today. It feels really good! I did a run to Goodwill and a run to a dumpster. I feel lighter. I also got a cut on my knuckle today from a piece of glass. I have a skin flap now and it hurts!
I better go to bed, I have to give Patrick a ride to work at 4am....poopy

Urgent Care

Cale went to urgent care today. Patrick was changing his diaper earlier and noticed blood on the wipe and a pretty bad diaper rash (he has only had like 2 in his life). Turns out, the diaper rash caused a few tears on his little butthole. Poor little fella. He should be fine. I am sure that has to be pretty uncomfortable.
Cale can finally go from laying to sitting!! He is getting so big! I think he will be crawling by the end of the month.
I am really tired....going to bed now....

Now I have time

I decided to write another blog since I have time. My blog from earlier today was right before I left for work, and I really shouldn't have posted it. I was running late already. Right now, I am lying on my bed, Patrick sleeping on my left and Shiner snoring on my right. I feel like that girl from Sex and the City. I have never seen an episode but clips that show her typing on her computer at the end. I thought to myself...my life is good! I truly am happy. I may have bad days here and there, but over all, I am happy.
Allison, I got your stuff in the mail...
I have been thinking about going back to school. I know, it is kinda crazy! I have a full time job and a baby. I am going to go talk to a counsler next week sometime. I want to be a nurse. I have always wanted to be a nurse, I don't know why I didn't go to school for that in the first place. Maybe because it takes a long time. Four years!! AHHHH!!! Probably more for me since I won't be able to go full time. We will see....step one, talk to counsler....
I better conclude this blog, Patrick has been moving around alot, I think I am keeping him up...I love you all!

Quickie

I hope everyone got their pictures!! Here are a couple more of our front yard..we did a little work on it

Awesomeness!

I never did tell about my trip back from Denver....it was awful! All the way through security, Cale was great. When we got on the elevator to go down to the train...that's when it all started. He screamed bloody murder! He didn't stop until we got on the train. He enjoys the movement and the flashing lights. After we got off the train, the screaming began again until takeoff. I was soooo stressed! It sucked really bad! The flight attendant at the front of the plane asked if she could hold on to Cale while I put our stuff away. I said, "Absoultly!" When I realized I couldn't get back up to the front of the plane to get him (people were still boarding and I was all the way in the back of the plane) I told another flight attendant my problem. She called to the front of the plane and they actually stopped boarding and the pilot carried my still screaming son to me. I forgot to mention, while I was putting our stuff away, the pilot was making funny announcments like, "Don't worry folks, he will be riding in the cockpit with us." They were so, so, so nice. I have never been treated like that by an airline before, but it felt so nice! I am glad Patrick works for such an awesome airline!!
With that long story out of the way, I have some other exciting news!! I am PREGNANT!!

Just kidding!!!

Cale started clapping! It looks so cute and he does it all the time! He is almost crawling...I bet by the end of June he will be cruising around. He also is getting really good at pulling himself up on stuff. I don't think he will crawl very long. He likes to walk but is still very wobbley, and of course, you still have to hold his hands.
I posted some new videos on youtube again. I hope you like them.

Still no teeth yet....

Denver Scramble

So, I went to Denver today to visit my brother for his birthday. I got in at about 7 this morning. Dillon was still asleep when we arrived at his house but he was very happy and excited to see us once he woke up. He had no idea Cale and I were coming so it really was a surprise. We didn't do a whole lot today, ate breakfast, took naps, ate dinner, and I am about to go to bed. Tomorrow we will probably go have breakfast then who knows...the day is open. I do have to leave tomorrow at around 4. I will post pictures once I get home...I have some funny videos too!

A prayer

Caden James Thomas 01/20/09- 05/03/09

I was at work today and got a text message from a friend of mine saying that our co-worker Robyn had lost her 3 month old grandson yesterday. My heart aches for her and her daughter like it has never ached before. I can't stop thinking about it and even while I am writing this blog, I am crying. I can't even begin to feel their pain and I hope I never have to. I will cherish everyday I have with my son and the rest of my family. I ask that everyone pray for Robyn and her family as they go though this tragedy. We are so lucky to have loving people in our lives, and I hope Robyn and her family have lots of love and support.

My nephew Kolton

Poopy night

So I am just having one of those days when you know you have so much to do, but you just sit on the computer or watch t.v. My kitchen is a wreck and the living room is a pig sty and I need to clean bottles. But instead I am sitting here blogging about how I should be doing something else. Patrick is already in bed, he had a rough day today and he has to work a double shift tomorrow. We got my personal property taxes paid today. It was over $800!! Needless to say, I haven't paid for a few years. I need to get an inspection tomorrow and finish getting my car registered. I hate when I have alot to do...I shut down and I don't do anything. AHHHH! I....must......do......something........

oanodgnoawnevnkjsdh

So, I can't remember the last time I posted. Which means, it is probably time to post again. Cale got his glasses! He doesn't look too bad in them. People like to ask questions or stare in public. One guy yesterday...at Wal-Mart.....asked why we put goggles on our kid. WTF? Goggles?
We went to my friends kids birthday today. He turned 2. It was at Chuckie Cheese and we put Cale on a couple of the rides. It was so funny!! I will post the videos when I get a chance.
Patrick and I went out last night to celebrate my friends birthday. We went downtown to the new "Power and Light" district. It was crazy! This big covered area with like 20 bars and restraunts. It was crazy. We were at a bar with dueling pianos but we were only there for about an hour. My friend puked in the bathroom after we took a shot of Rumplemints. We got kicked out. Then we went to another bar that our friend is the manager of. Overall, it was a really fun night and I got totally wasted. I feel like crap today and I just want to sleep....

glasses..blah..

So, we went to the eye doctor today. Cale got his prescription for his glasses and we picked out his frames. His glasses should come in next week sometime. The frames we picked out are hideous. We both hate them. The reason we picked them out is because they are very flexible, almost rubbery, so they will be comfortable and they wont break. They should be an excellent first pair of glasses to get him used to having them on his face. They only came in blue and pink. If they came in black that would've been okay but I think the blue ones are really stupid looking. Anyway, here's a picture of him in the frames...no lens yet. Enjoy!

Sorry...

Sorry everyone! I forgot to update you all on Cale's doctor visit. He weighs 18.2 pounds and he is 27 1/2 inches long. That was about it. She wants him to start to learn how to drink out of a cup so we got him a sippy cup. He hates it. We will try to give it to him in another 2 weeks or so. She said we can try different stuff but if he doesn't like it, don't force it. It sounds pretty good to me. I love our pediatrician. She is so nice. Anyway, thats all for now....

Teething

Cale is totally teething and it sucks! He will just go into this fit of rage all of a sudden and nothing makes him happy. I tried oragel...is that how you spell that? Anyway, I tried frozen peas in this mesh bag thing, a cold rag, and my own finger. Eventually he calms down but it is so stressful until then. He has his 6 month check up tomorrow. I think he is going to weigh about 18 pounds and 30 inches long. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Patrick and I are NOT making bets on it this time because I am tired of losing. Anyway, I will blog tomorrow with the stats!

Big boy!

Cale is finally starting to roll from his belly to his back. I don't know why it took him so long. He also, all of a sudden, is starting to sit up all by himself!! What a big boy! I am so proud of him!
